Three spirited nymphs are shown in high relief, stealthily playing a joke on the satyr. The nymph on the left holds a musical instrument while the one on the far right leans down to steal the satyr's pipes as he slumbers unsuspectingly. Inventory records show that Hearst bought this piece directly from Muzanne. It is one of several twentieth-century pieces by women artists in the San Simeon collection.
