  • Dickey in 2011 Atlanta:
    Desjardins was called upon to produce two equestrian sculptures [of Louis XIV] in 1687 and 1688: one for Aix-en-Provence, the other for Lyon. The former monument was never realized but is known from statuettes such as this one, executed after the model.
