Julien's Poussin was a royal commission, forming part of the suite of famous men for the vestibule of the salle des séances of the Institut, and is now in the Louvre.
The plaster was exhibited in 1789.
The marble was exhibited only in 1804.
A terra-cotta model is also in the Louvre.
The bronze shows numerous simplifications of the Louvre marble, including the absence of incised figures on the slab (representing a panel or a canvas?) by Poussin.
