The big bronze (H. 86 5/8 in.) was commissioned by the City of Paris and cast by Thiébaut Frères from a plaster modeled at the Villa Medici in Rome in 1872. It is now at the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris.
Life-size bronzes are found in Agen, Bordeaux, Châlons-sur-Marne, Cholet, Niort, Copenhague.
A bronze edition (seven different sizes) was made by the founder Barbedienne.
