See: http://www.iloveallertonpark.com/2012/04/16/the-contributions-of-charles-laing-to-robert-allerton-park/ (accessed September 25, 2017):
The copy of Adam that stands in the center axis of the formal garden is the second copy of the Rodin bronze gifted to the AIC in 1924 by Robert Allerton. The Park’s present copy dates from 1975 and is much less refined and more blocky than the original Laing execution. According to John Gregg, the first Adam suffered a broken leg in transport from Chicago and was repaired by Charles Laing. A climbing visitor knocked Adam from his pedestal resulting in irreparable breakage. During the 1970’s, the Park suffered neglect, vandalism and loss from indifference and mismanagement on several levels – but that is another story altogether.
